CBRE announced multifamily expert Josh Luchs has joined CBRE Capital Markets as senior vice president, based in Century City.

Luchs will focus on enhancing the firm’s multifamily investment sales presence across Southern California. Luchs, who joins from Marcus & Millichap, is an accomplished real estate professional and skilled negotiator with more than twenty-five years of business experience. Luchs specializes in the marketing and sales of multifamily apartment buildings throughout Los Angeles County. During his tenure at Marcus & Millichap, where he was the recipient of numerous sales recognition and national achievement awards, Luchs transacted more than $400 million in sales.

In addition, Luchs is well-versed in facilitating transactions of other income-producing assets across the U.S., such as in 1031exchanges, providing alternatives to apartment ownership. Luchs has also served as a member of the Encino Neighborhood Council and has been a regular speaker at conferences throughout the region, including Real Share Los Angeles.

Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap, Luchs worked as a sports agent for nearly two decades. Having represented numerous recognizable athletes, he was featured in news media and television shows, including HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and three ESPN ‘30 for 30 films.’ In 2010, he was featured on the Sports Illustrated cover for an interview about the relationships between sports agents and college football players.

Luchs testified before the California Senate and traveled to Capitol Hill to participate in a congressional roundtable. He continues to work at advancing legislation to protect student athletes and is a published author (Illegal Procedure- Bloomsbury Publishing 2012).

“Josh’s multi-faceted background, transactional expertise and in-depth market knowledge, provide an unmatched perspective of and advantage in the multifamily market,” said Jim Kruse, a senior managing director at the Century City office. “We look forward to the substantial contributions Josh will make as we expand our multifamily platform in Southern California and to our office.”
