Steve Carroll leads the Asia Pacific Capital Markets Hotels and Hospitality team at CBRE. With over 20 years of hotel investment experience, Steve has a proven track record of delivering market-leading, fully integrated service offerings across the region. His expertise encompasses transactions on both the principal and operator sides, including M&A, acquisitions and divestment strategies, capital raising, debt, and asset management. Steve’s extensive market knowledge across the entire hotel stakeholder community enables him to unlock value for clients and achieve their strategic goals.
Before joining CBRE, Steve served as Senior Vice President of Global Corporate Finance and Strategy at a major global hospitality company. In this role, he was the Global Co-Head of M&A and Global Growth Officer for luxury brands. His global experience, including stints in Singapore, Atlanta, and London, allowed him to develop and execute short and long-term investment strategies, build strong relationships with hotel stakeholders, and gain expert market knowledge.
Steve managed numerous high-profile investment strategies, including the acquisition of Kimpton Hotels, Regent Hotels, and Six Senses Resorts, as well as the sale of InterContinental hotels, such as the ~US$1 billion sale of the IC Hong Kong, one of the largest hotel transactions globally.
Prior to this, Steve was with LaSalle Investment Management, where he was responsible for the group’s hospitality investments and asset management across Asia Pacific. He successfully concluded several hotel acquisition and disposal projects, including fund management aspects such as capital raising and portfolio management.
Earlier in his career, Steve was an Asset and Investment Manager at The GPT Group in Sydney, where he helped acquire, manage, and divest the group’s hotel portfolio and mixed-use sites across Australia.
